Terms of use
Last updated: October 12, 2026
Anchor is a free student-built prototype that helps you organize benefit notices and follow through on the next steps. These terms explain what to expect when you use it.
What Anchor provides
Anchor offers document reading, a review workspace, task and deadline organization, progress and receipt tracking, advisory evidence comparisons, guided form preparation, a public-program assistant and source library, selected appointment packet exports, optional Google Calendar reminders, and optional account saving. The current notice-reading prototype focuses on supported English and Spanish CalFresh renewal and verification notice families. Other documents may be unsupported. The assistant's reviewed sources cover selected programs, not every federal, state, or local service.
Anchor is an independent project. It is not affiliated with a government agency and does not determine eligibility, award benefits, approve documents, or file applications. Recording a submission in Anchor records what you tell it happened; it does not send anything to an agency.
Document suggestions and paperwork checks
Local classification suggests document types and may decline to classify unfamiliar or ambiguous text. OCR and extracted facts can be wrong. Review document kind, person, reporting period, and any amount against the original before confirming them. Checks compare the available confirmed facts with notice requests and supported form fields; they do not verify identity, detect every error, or prove that a file meets agency rules.
A matching document is an advisory preparation result. It does not mark a request submitted, establish receipt or acceptance, or determine eligibility. Individual paycheck amounts are not assumed to equal monthly gross income. Published model results describe a small fictional test set, not demonstrated accuracy on real cases. No resident usability study or benefit outcome has been claimed.
Form drafts and official submission
Guided forms help you prepare answers and review official documents. CF 37 and SAR 7B exports contain all pages of a verified template and your supported mapped answers, including table rows. They remain unsigned drafts. Earlier notes and unmapped information require manual transfer. Other forms have notes and a preview without field filling. Check every applicable field, transfer notes, read the certification, and sign and date the actual form as your agency requires. Anchor does not certify completeness or submit a form. Keep your interview and use the county's official submission channels.
Appointment packets and language guidance
Choose the notices and files included in an appointment packet and review the result before sharing. Packet downloads combine selected summaries and supported file types; they are not an official application or proof of submission. Original supporting files remain unchanged. Official editable forms stay separate unsigned downloads. Unsupported, unreadable, oversized, or interactive attachments may require a separate original download.
Spanish help is Anchor's plain-language translation of reviewed guidance. Official PDFs and original notice quotes retain their original language. Translation does not change the agency's requirements. Use official translated materials or ask the agency for language assistance when you need clarification.
Public-program guidance and cloud AI
The assistant and source library provide general source-linked information and navigation. Reviewed public passages are retrieved by topic, form section, and jurisdiction; the library does not cover every rule, form, or program. It does not determine your eligibility or interpret your personal case through Gemini. Cloud AI accepts only predefined public topics, optional jurisdiction, and reviewed public form-question identifiers; highlighted text, raw typed questions, private documents, and form answers stay outside the Gemini request. AI answers may be incomplete or wrong: use the linked official sources and ask the agency about your own circumstances.
Gemini use is for adults age 18 or older and only where its provider terms allow; the app requires adult-use confirmation before a cloud request. The source guide remains available without cloud AI. Do not submit personal, sensitive, or confidential information to the free Gemini service. Its additional terms govern its use.
Optional calendar reminders
Google Calendar connection is optional and uses a separate permission request. Review the checked dates and generic event preview before confirming which reminders to create. Events are all-day reminders, not appointment bookings or proof of agency acceptance. Check your notice for any exact appointment time and check your calendar's notification settings. Connection or event creation may fail if Google permissions, project setup, or network access are unavailable; you can still download a calendar file.
Disconnecting the current session or deleting your Anchor workspace does not revoke Google's grant or remove existing events. Manage the grant in your Google account and edit or remove events in Google Calendar.
Check your original notice
Automated reading can miss text, misread checkboxes, or interpret a date incorrectly. Review extracted details against your original document before relying on a plan or calendar export. The issuing agency's requirements and decisions control your benefits.
Use official agency channels to confirm instructions, submit records, request an extension, or address a missed deadline. Anchor does not provide legal advice or guarantee that following its suggested steps will preserve benefits. Keep original notices and actual submission confirmations separately.
Your records and account
Use only documents you are authorized to access. Keep your sign-in and device secure, and do not try to access another person's workspace, bypass access controls, or upload harmful files. You retain your rights to the documents and information you add; Anchor uses them to provide the features you choose.
Guest records stay on the current device. Account records must successfully sync before another device can access them. Download backups when needed. See the privacy policy for storage, sign-in, providers, and deletion controls.
Availability and changes
As a prototype, Anchor may have errors, outages, storage limits, or changes to its features. Continuous availability, accurate extraction, complete records, and successful synchronization cannot be guaranteed. Calendar reminders require your calendar's notification settings; Anchor itself does not send background notifications.
Updates to these terms will be published here with a new date. Questions about the project, errors, or your account can be sent to jaisamadhiya@gmail.com. Please keep sensitive benefit documents out of email.
